Bob, thank you for posting and including the information regarding the Proposed safety path on Snell. Bottom line, as details and concerns are worked through, I think it’s incredibly important to see this path implemented. The safety of our citizens is important.
In this township, we are very lucky to have as many beautiful open spaces and parks. Connecting them and making a safe walkable area for our residents is vital. So many communities across the nation do not even have the beautiful parks we have and yet they are making great efforts to protect the walkers the bikers and connect those green spaces. We have an incredible park system in Oakland Township, now we need to make it “pedestrian friendly” between them.
I’ve been involved in various meetings regarding different sites/roads/areas and unfortunately, because of the lack of sidewalks many of our residents who are elderly, who are young moms pushing strollers, young kids trying to ride bikes, are walking or riding on the road. This is unacceptable.
I’ve walked many of the roads myself and I’m telling you, it’s dangerous. So for the good of the citizens and making our beautiful area into a more walkable, safe and pedestrian friendly area, I really hope this moves forward.
